  How many have/will/plan to attend a WNFJ convention in Penn?

  i know a few here have and do so - i have listened to tons of the audio testimonials and have even had one poster here offer me a place to stay should i decide to go in october.

  i just might go this time.. wnfj= witnesses now for jesus [ mostly former jw's and mormons] .

  I feel the same way! Jeff and everyone else going, it will a pleasure to meet you all. A few weeks ago I met a friend that I have known for about 7 years online. He is ex JW too, we have a new Meetup group halfway between us so we both drive about an hour. It was so sweet to meet him! My mom did too. We used to meet in the AOL disfellowshipped JWs chatroom.

  Lets keep this thread fresh and we can post pictures of ourselves later in the year so we can recognize each other at the convention. Someone will have to teach me how to post pics here. Grace, Renee, what is the weather like that time of year out there?

  Wonderful! I may be bringing some too! yippeeeeee

  Grace do they have raw veggies? I don't like carrying food on the planes, it has to go through all the scans and takes up room. All I need is raw nuts and veggies. Oh I forgot about the airplane rules, better read up so I am prepared. You can't take personal hygiene stuff unless it is packaged a certain way.

  I believe it's the organisation of worship that hurts people, not the act. It's sometimes difficult to believe in something if there isn't a group of people to share in it and make us feel part of something. But when people get involved, peoples opinions get involved.

  It is understandable that you would feel this way. All I can say is mainstream Christianity is 100% different from cults and cult mentality, meaning, you are expected to use your brain.

  I adore worshipping with my church, my husbands praise band, and serving the church and community. True Christian leaders will never say, "believe what I tell you," but they will tell you NOT to believe what they tell you without checking it for yourself.

  When someone is teaching the Bible they are not supposed to teach personal opinions. I would never support a pastor that did, in fact my husband being a pastor will check everything being taught for acuracy as do I.

  I would believe what I believe if I was the only one on earth who believed it. But you are right. J Vernon Mgee once said "the problem with the church in the 21st century is not the woodpeckers on the outside, but the termites on the inside."

  I'll be there! I'm very excited. I've tried to go for many years but it was either health or financial issues that I could not overcome. This year is my year thank God. I'll be staying there with friends. Renee will you be there this year? If so we will probably be bunking together at AW's.

  Does anyone know about real estate (mom? dad?)

  yeah, i won't ask my real life parents this, so i am turning to my jwd parents for help, lol.. i have just caught wind that a 2 week long class will be opening up on a nearby campus.

  once the class is over, the students will then be able to take a state test and get a realtor's license.

  the course costs $700.. ok, so i need to get a job, otherwise we are going to starve to death.

  Everything differs State to State. Here an agent will get aprox. 3% of every sale which can add up. You will be assigned time in the office answering the phone, you'll get prospects that way. You will work under your Broker, they get a percentage too. There are many ways to work at getting customers.

  I studied to take the test here in Cali before the law went into effect that made agents have to take college classes before they took the test. That was maybe 20 years ago I'm sure there have been changes. I took classes with Century 21 and kinda crammed for the test. I didn't pass it but that's ok, we have to try different things.

  Now you will probably not make money right away. It takes time to get your first sale for one thing, there is competition. Then you don't get money until the deal closes which can take 1-3 months. The agent works to find buyers and sellers, make the sale smooth, emotionally, professionaly. You will work with loan agents, estimators, Title companies, buyers and sellers.

  I hope you find something soon. You can work on Real Estate and another job too until you have a steady income. I never tried to take the test again, I did get commisions on Time Shares when I lived on Maui and that was sweet.

  Anybody have a three year old??? HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!

  i have a 3 year old girl, and she is wild... she has recently started completley disobeying, talking back, slamming doors, spitting at me etc.

  it is getting miserable to go anywhere because she throws fits, runs around resturants screaming.

  at dance class, her teacher had to send her off the floor because she was the only kid running around and woud not listen.

  Oh and when she gets 3 stars for good behavior have a treasure chest hidden somewhere with special treats and toys that she can choose from. Consistency is the key with these wild girls! hehe..my daughter is 26 now and her daughter is the same! She is 3 now too!

  You need Nanny 911! That Joe Frost does great on the TV.

  What helped me the most was a reward system for good behavior. A wall chart with stars for behaving well in the stores, picking up her toys, speaking like a little lady, etc.

  Also not letting children have too much free unsupervised time. I would have them go from activity to activity coloring, art, cutting and glueing, cooking with mom, Play Doe time, physical exersize for kids CD, musis and dance time, dress up,etc.

  Funny my daughter got kicked out of ballet school too at that age! She was the only one who would not listen in her class. Instead she wanted to sit in her baby brother's stroller in her tutu. lol...We waited a few years and she tried again and did better.

  Enjoy these precious years, they can go by so fast.

  lovelylils post made me think.... dubs pretty much rule that particular sector.

  my mother was more proud of me working for the p.o.

  cleaning toilets than if i had gone on to be a doctor.

  I dropped out of school at 13 in 1973 to clean houses on a dub crew lead by a freaky guy named Tom Wolfe in Torrance CA. Armageddon was a comin' so school was a waste and we needed money cause mom nearly died from refusing blood during surgery.

  funny the wierd things I can remember...hubby was counting the times tonight my short term memory lapse kicked in..."thanks for the tea but I was going to have hot chocolate like I said" etc etc...long term is just as bad...

  In the 1980's I worked with a dub team in Riverside CA cleaning houses after they were built, I really moved up. I got to clean the outside windows in the winter, learned how to use a razor blade on glass...honestly though, I never did anything for long. This dub women tried to cheat me out of hundreds of dollars.

  Life sucked but I wasn't sure why...I ended up a gypsy.

  (((((Speedy))))) my bones ache too with this cold weather.

  awe I'm sorry Juni. Hope it warms up soon. I just checked his feet while making my tea and found a funky lump on one ankle. I'm going to give him a bath and a blow dry and go over him to show the vet on Friday.

  Friday night we are going to a friends house who is having a fundraising kind of get together. His brother is helping to build an orphanage in Ukrain. It will be interesting to hear his experiences. He is trying to raise $100,000. I've seen documentaries on the situation there for unwanted children. Wretched wretched conditions.

  My first thought when Mike called to invite us over was if we could adopt a child from there. We have recently decided to foster a child if my health stays as steady as it has been. I know children from here need loving homes too. Wish we could adopt 100 children.

  Friday will be a busy day.
